CHEKT's chessboard wears its handle like a secret unlocked

The carrying handle on Jess Wiseman's CHEKT board is the detail that makes the design click for me. Chessboards have an awkward domestic life: leave one out and it becomes a tabletop afterthought, tuck it away and you lose the game you were mid-way through. CHEKT refuses that hiding. The handle isn't bolted on as an afterthought; it's worn like a secret unlocked, a structural promise that this board is meant to be moved, carried, and played somewhere better than the shelf it usually dies on. I love a product that treats its own awkwardness as a design problem worth solving. Wiseman didn't just make a chessboard that travels. She made one that admits it lives in the real world, where games get interrupted and tables get cleared. That's the razor clam.
