Sony ECM-W5

Sony's new wireless mic dares creators to look past the price tag

Sony's ECM-W5 wireless mic lands in a market absolutely stuffed with affordable alternatives that already do the job well. And Sony knows it. So instead of just making another competent microphone, they packed this one with features that only make sense if you already own a Sony camera. That's a gamble. The creator space has been flooded with impressive little mics that cost half as much and sound great. To justify that premium price tag, the ECM-W5 needs to offer something the others can't. The real question isn't whether it sounds good, it's whether those exclusive features are enough to make Sony shooters reach for their wallets. And whether anyone else should bother looking twice.
