Feeling exhausted by all the upkeep of being a well groomed woman
I love the end result of putting time and effort into my appearance and taking care of myself, but it just feels draining a lot of the time. And this is coming from someone who is quite minimal comparatively! Does anyone have tips for making it more enjoyable and less of a chore? I already do things to make it feel like a little ritual like light a candle, take my time, give myself a little massage while moisturizing, putting on music I enjoy.. it sort of helps, sometimes.
Here are the things I am doing on a daily or weekly basis-
Daily:
Hair: Brush, oil, light styling (braids, buns, wetting hair lightly to encourage waves)
Face: skincare AM & PM (toner, vit C, retinal, sunscreen, moisturizer), pluck eyebrows and mustache
Makeup: CC cream, brow gel, lip tint, cream blush, mascara
Teeth: oil pulling, flossing, brushing, tongue scraping, +doing a round of white strips atm
Every other day: Longer shower with washing hair, exfoliating, lotion, body oil
Nails: file and apply some cuticle oil
1x per week: Scalp and hair mask, shave legs
I would ideally like to add heatless curls or styling my hair with more effort, doing my nails, and dyeing my brows but putting more on the plate seems daunting. It’s not like I’m doing fake tanning, extensions and heavy makeup so I don’t know why it feels like so much! Help!
