Need Encouragement
I used to be a wedding photographer with a thriving business. I did this from 2016-2020. It eventually led to me shooting full time to put myself through grad school to be a mental health therapist! I eventually closed my business because shooting weddings was just too much as a new counselor. I was definitely burnt out from being gone all day every weekend and editing nonstop.
Fast forward to 2026. I am now a new mom to a one year old & am working part-time in counseling. I have a dream of starting back up again, but this time focusing on families & portraits of newborns & kids. I’m hopeful that this will be more realistic as a mom since being away all day for weddings isn’t really an option anymore!
The problem is I am SO intimidated to start over. I no longer have a website, it’s been years since I used my skills, and marketing yourself seems totally different than it was in 2018 & 2019!
Does anyone have any tips for starting over? I’d also love to hear from someone who has made a similar shift out of wedding photography.
