Burning/pain from Braun IPL and Laser?

Hello! So basically, I recently got the Braun IPL, and my mom's apparently been getting great results as she uses hers consistently and has had a history with laser treatments and electrolysis in the past.

I seem to be super sensitive to everything: waxing hurts so much despite consistency (even hours/few days after doing it), and I have also previously gotten a full laser treatment for my face, chin, and neck, but it would cause me so much intense burning during each of the sessions that even the lower "levels" of the laser machine would still cause my skin to burn intensely, but at least I wouldn't flinch away.

I got the IPL in hopes that it wouldn't hurt, as I've seen so many reviews saying it's painless (again, just hoping it was true), and even with a close shave and not being on my period, I've still been experiencing the burning sensation, and it's just been pushing me away from using it. Any advice on what to do? I really wanna get rid of all my body hair because it lifts my self-esteem for me personally, and I'm tired of being told by my family and professionals that I'm just being a wuss and can't handle a bit of pain, but it seriously hurts.

I've considered numbing creams, but am unsure if this is the way to go. Would it be safe to use down there? And is it reasonable to consistently use numbing creams for the IPL which technically doesn't remove hair permanently?

I've also posted this to r/HairRemoval, just posting this here to get a little advice from a different place. Thank you all in advance, and please, no hurtful comments.
