Outside Reports Data Comparison tool

Hello!

This is kinda hard to explain so bare with me 😅

At my previous job, I had to do a lot of auditing between the information on our HR system and the data on another carriers site. So basically I had to see if the salary in our HR system matches the info on the carriers site (since the info on the carriers site was manually entered). I also had to make sure peoples birthdate, name, gender, and etc. matched.

I did this audit by using Vlookup. So I downloaded the reports from these two sites and copy and pasted the info on an excel tab and did Vlookup for each category.

I talked to the HR analyst at the company about what I do and she was able to expedite the process a lot! I am now trying to figure out what’s the name of the tool and how she did it!

So she made some kind of template on excel and stored it in a folder on the computer. And then everytime I wanted to do this audit, I had to download the report from the HR system and this carriers site and drag it into this same folder and then I had to open the excel file and click refresh on it and it would cross reference the two data!! So it would have columns that said what the salary was on one site vs the other and then said TRUE or FALSE depending if they matched. It would do this for all the indifferent categories (salary, DOB, etc.)

It was life changing and I would love to learn how to do it!

If you know the name of the feature, please let me know.

Thank you!!
