Help, I am in deep shit!

| Well technically not me, but my birds are in deep shit man! Its my first year with these guys, bought them as chicks and they grew well and made it through their first cold ass Chicago winter (yayyy) but to keep them warm, in the fall I put straw as their bedding and left it till now today in February where I can see theres about 3 inches of shitsoaked straw bedding which has been carefully encrusted with precisely 1 inch layering of chickenshit on it. In the winter when it was below freezing, the shit floor would be frozen solid and all I did was give them water and feed so that shit wasn't a problem, but now its starting to thaw out and I don't want my flock revelling delightfully in their own shit and catching diseases and shit either so I wanna get this cleaned before spring. The problem? The whole thing is really well compacted in the ground and I was drained trying dig at it, so I was wondering do I just have to thug it out and shovel it out in a wheelbarrow, or is there a more efficient way to do this? Does this happen to others too, if so how do you clean it in the wintertime? Is there better stuff than straw? I have more questions, but any personal advice is greatly appreciated. 🙏 [link] [comments] |
