Linkind's smart lights finally make the holiday ladder a box in the garage

I would trade my ladder for a phone tap, and I think you should too. Linkind's new Smart Permanent Outdoor Lights ColorBlend aren't just another set of addressable LEDs, they're the end of the December argument about where the extension cords went. Mount them once along your eaves, all 200 feet of them, and your house's entire seasonal wardrobe lives in an app. Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, a random Tuesday you want warm amber: swipe, tap, done. The ladder goes back to the garage until spring gutter cleaning.

The detail that burrowed in sideways for me is the dual-zone head. Each of the 120 compact white housings holds two optics, a narrow 50° beam nested inside a wider 100° beam, so every single head paints a scallop within a scallop on the siding below. Linkind calls it a dual-layer fish-scale effect, and if you're a house nerd who knows that fish-scale is also the name of those rounded decorative shingles on old Victorian gables, you're already grinning. That optical layering lets you run red, white, and blue in July, burnt orange and gold for fall, purple wrapped in green for Halloween, then classic red and green for December, all from the same strip, without any physical swap. The presets cover 120+ looks, and when nothing in the library hits, the Dotis AI assistant takes a spoken request like "snowy night with a little sparkle" and builds a custom effect. For the detail-obsessed, the Edit Canvas lets you set both zones on every single head, one light at a time, which is how you make your roofline look custom-designed while the neighbor's permanent lights look like they came out of a box.

Let's talk about what this actually costs and when you can get one, because Spoot doesn't swallow hype. The 200-foot ColorBlend kit is $699.99 right now during the pre-Black Friday launch, that's $100 off the regular $799.99. For 120 dual-zone heads, a single adapter that runs all 12 strings, IP67-rated waterproofing, and Matter compatibility that ties it into Apple Home, SmartThings, and Alexa, that price is reasonable for what you're getting. But reasonable is not cheap, and this is still a weekend install: test every string on the ground, space each head 2 to 4 inches out from the wall, drill and set an anchor for every light, then secure each one with 3M VHB adhesive and a screw. Do it right once and you're set for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the big December reveal, plus Valentine's pink, Fourth of July red-white-and-blue, and plain warm white on a Tuesday. If your house has no traditional eaves, the FlexMount variant (HP5S) handles flat facades and covered porches for $246.99, and the PatternChange version (HP6X) adds decorative patterned light for those who want something the neighbors haven't seen yet.

The open question I keep circling back to is the AI assistant. Dotis takes a typed or spoken description and builds a lighting effect from it, "snowy night with a little sparkle" becomes a real, programmed look. That's either the feature that makes this system feel alive or the one that produces a muddy approximation of what you meant, and I genuinely don't know which until I see it render a specific request. What I do know: if you spend one dry fall weekend on the install, your December ritual becomes a four-second phone tap. That's not a marketing line, it's the concrete consequence of mounting lights that never come down. The ladder goes into storage, and the only thing you haul out of the garage is the phone.

Changing your phone’s wallpaper takes about four seconds. Changing your house’s holiday decor usually takes a weekend, two trips to the hardware store, and a mild argument about where the extension cords went. The Linkind Smart Permanent Outdoor Lights ColorBlend shrink that weekend down to four seconds. They mount along your eaves once, all 200 feet, and from then on your house’s look is a theme you pick in an app. Fourth of July, fall harvest, Halloween, Christmas: swipe, tap, done.
